To support the kick when attacking, the special sticks are shaped like a diamond.

They are ideal for athletes with a set punch. Controlling this type of pala is more difficult than the control option. The reason for this is that most of the pala’s weight is on its end and the pala’s core is comparatively smaller. To overcome the possible difficulties associated with this feature, a beginner should opt for a lighter version of the padel.

Attacking, ‘power sticks’ shift the balance towards the top at a 60-40 ratio. Sometimes referred to as “tadpoles”, they are recommended for those who have practiced padel techniques and are ready to get tougher. Attack sticks allow you to attack at the net from any point, reduce the time needed to receive the ball and increase the momentum of the game.

Control sticks are round and help make the ball easier to handle and also direct the ball into an area of the court where an opponent may find it difficult to kick.
Control sticks are precise and suitable for players with strong wrists.

The ease of handling is the reason why this kind of palaver is often recommended to all beginners.

Another advantage of the pala control is its roughened surface that enables better control of the stroke, forcing opponents to make errors. With the control pala, the balance is centred, the weight is not shifted towards the handle, and the centre is comfortable for kicking the ball.

HYBRID

The balance of this pala is in the centre, allowing you to attack and defend at the same time.

Players who have already had some success should switch to a hybrid pala. It will allow you to find the balance between power and strike control.

HARD OR EASY?

So you’ve decided which kind of pala you like best for playing padel.

Now it’s time to decide how much weight the pala should have.

Often players do not immediately consider heavy sticks, but they have some advantages that you should also consider.
Lightweight sticks weigh around 360 grams and maybe even less.

They are easy to move, give you more speed, have a great bounce, and are perfect for attacking near the net.
Heavy sticks weigh from 370 grams. They allow for more power and are more durable.

If you’re aiming to make ‘strong’ strokes, choose a heavy pala.
If you haven’t decided on the weight yet, look for a medium-weight pala.
