HISTORY

The sport was invented in Acapulco, Mexico in 1969. The creator of Padel and the inventor of the rules was Enrique Corcueroi. Today, Padel tennis is becoming increasingly popular in Latin American countries (particularly in Argentina and Mexico). Padel is particularly popular in Spain, with around five million Spaniards playing it in 2017 alone! And, of course, it’s hard to find a Barcelonan who hasn’t heard of this amazing game. Today, padel has started to appear in other countries as well, for example, since you are reading this website, it is likely that padel tennis is starting to conquer Russia as well.

At present, the most important padel tennis organisation is the World Padel Tour (WPT), which was established in Spain. Its branches are now appearing in many other countries, for example, in 2014 WPT was organised in Portugal, there is also a branch in Dubai.

REGULATIONS

As with many other active games, the easiest way to understand the rules of padel tennis is during the process itself.

There is nothing complicated about them, and even a child can easily understand them.

Depending on whether you plan to play padel outdoors or indoors, there may be differences in the type of surface or wall characteristics of the courts. However, for all padel courts there are FIP approved characteristics which must be complied with.

Common to all courts (both indoor and outdoor) is the size, which must be 10×20 metres.

Padel is played with a pala, but if you call it a padel racket, it is not a mistake.

Depending on your playing profile and needs, the pala is chosen individually. Here we go into more detail on how to choose a pala.

The main requirement for clothing for the game of padel is high quality in all materials. Sports brands that produce padel clothing primarily consider the high dynamics of the game. The clothing should let the air flow through to the body and at the same time not hinder the movements.

Special attention should be paid to the correct selection of footwear for the game of padel.
