Basic tips for playing padel in winter
We all know that there are certain sports that can only be done in the summer. Or, on the contrary, some that can only be performed in winter because the weather is held outdoors. For example, skiing is only possible when there is snow.
We are fortunate to choose a sport that can be practised throughout the year in our geography, but with the proliferation of clubs and indoor clubs we can assure you that we will play 365 days a year .
Today we want to leave a number of tips that will help us play our favourite sport in winter without risk. The first thing we must keep in mind is that at this time of year the ambient temperature is lower, so that the body’s entry into heat is slower and longer. Therefore, it is necessary to do a proper warm-up before starting our matches in the padel to warm up the muscles well.
This low ambient temperature will also make, as a rule, from how much we put on ourselves. But we should avoid too much clothing, as it will be harder for us to move and play padel in the snow. We should warm up with the aforementioned warm-up and activity. If we wear too much clothing, our movements may be less efficient and even clumsy, which can lead to some type of discomfort or injury. Also, with too many clothes, the technical gesture will change, so we will play worse and we will lose more time to react.
You have to be very careful with your movements when the court is wet or even a little bit frosty with snow. We have to get through harder and try to get as close to the ball as possible. Another important factor of winter is the type of padel ball used, because in lower temperatures the air is more dense and the ball will work much less. In these conditions we will choose a slightly faster ball so as not to make the game too slow and heavy.
We also have to be very careful about hydration. In winter, when you sweat less, we will be less thirsty. But we should always take care of our hydration before, during and after the game.
And finally, once we finish our padel game match, we should take off our sweaty clothes before we start to cool down and perform our stretches. And if at all possible, take a good shower, put on dry clothes and another jacket because we won’t be continuing our workouts.
Last, as always, the obligatory visit to the club bar for a good bite to eat and to celebrate a great game of padel and a good time.
